February 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM: Plans are finalized for this rescheduled virtual meeting, titled: "Rethink Your Storage Refresh" featuring Don Lind of IBM  (details & bio below)

Rethink Your Storage Refresh

What is it like to replace your aging legacy storage with something that just keeps getting better all the time, and makes your job easier?  IBM will share new options that provide a future-proofed connection between on-premise data and the public cloud.  IBM's new FlashSystems leverage Spectrum Virtualize to make the link incredibly easy as well as provide the ability to continue to use existing storage investment by virtualizing it behind the FlashSystem.  Business continuity, disaster recovery and investment protection made easy!

Don's Bio:

Don has 30 years of experience in the IT industry and focusing on servers, storage and networking. Besides IBM he has worked at HPE, LeftHand Networks and a value-added reseller. Key areas of interest are software-defined storage and memory-based computing leveraging NVMe.

May 2021: End of year party

While all the uncertainty remains, there can & likely will continue to be modifications as conditions dictate.

Please read the MUG COVID-19 Update message below:

"As our user group season progresses, we are eager to get back to regular in-person meetings at our favorite establishments. However, in keeping with current health guidelines, we must continue the season virtually to ensure the well-being of our members.

The MUG Board of Directors will continue to evaluate CDC guidelines, NYS/local mandates and DOH regulations to make responsible decisions for the health and safety of our members and guests, with regards to the re-opening of our in-person meetings. In the meantime we are planning to hold virtual meetings to fulfill our commitment to provide education and value to our membership.

We thank you for your patience and co-operation throughout these unprecedented times."

On Behalf of the MUG Board of Directors

David Giambra, President

Our past events and plans .....

September 24, 2020 Event:

Postponed until further notice

October 27, 2020 Event (Tuesday): Virtual.

We were excited to have had IBM Platform Leader, Steven Fier, talk about IBM’s recent announcements around Power9, IBMi Operating System and Cloud.  The pandemic has not slowed down IBM from refreshing the Power9 hardware in July and enhancing the IBMi software stack in October. IBM has supercharged the platform with many great new features and offerings. The presentation boiled down the information and highlighted key announcements.

December 10, 2020: Cancelled due to low registration.

Unfortunately, The MUG virtual holiday party set for December 10 had to be cancelled due to a low registration rate. We want to thank everyone who was involved in the planning for their efforts.

We understand this was a trying year for all and we hope everyone was able to end 2020 on a positive and healthy note. We hope you all had a Happy Holiday and the MUG board looks forward to reconvening in February 2021.

Please feel free to check back often for additional details which are added regularly, as they become available.
